Thoughts on a Fresh Start

Welcome to my new blog. I have had several other blogs, but I decided I needed a fresh start.

Today was a good day. I work in a coffee shop and business wasn't bad - good enough to keep the lights on, anyway.

The weather was fantastic. We had much needed rain, which made the trails at least a little tacky. I went for a quick ride. I love riding my bike. We have beautiful scenery here. Sometimes, like today, I don't encounter a single soul on the trail and I feel very connected to the land.

I also received an early Christmas gift. It was unexpected and I am actually quite humbled by it. I won't reveal what it is yet, but I believe my life will be much improved in the future because of it - if I do not fail to act on it.

I don't really know what my plans are for this blog. Most likely it will wind up being part diary, part rants, part essays. I'm not really too concerned if people read it or not. I write a lot of stuff specifically for others to read, so I work really hard to keep my writing interesting. That is not the point here. I think I want a place where I can speak my mind to an invisible, even nonexistent, audience and not worry that what I have to say may be controversial or boring or whatever.
